Sculpture by the Sea is Australia’s largest annual, outdoor, free to the public exhibition of contemporary sculpture. For three weeks each spring, the exhibition is staged along Sydney’s spectacular Bondi to Tamarama coastal walk and attracts over 400,000 visitors to view works by artists from Australia and overseas
Transfield Holdings’ support for Sculpture by the Sea began in 2003 with the commission of Phil Price’s kinetic work, Tri. The company has continued its support of kinetic artists through Sculpture by the Sea and in 2008 became Co-Principle sponsor of the exhibition alongside NAB. In conjunction with its increase in sponsorship, Transfield Holdings launched the Transfield Holdings Kinetic Art Prize. The inaugural winner of the Transfield Holdings Kinetic Art Prize was Japanese artist Kozo Nishino for his work entitled Harmony with the Breeze.
More recently Transfield’s support for Sculpture by the Sea has been in the form of The Australian Invited Artist Program supporting the careers of leading sculptors.
